About

Welcome to Art by Patricia

I am an artist that mostly paints either with oils or acrylics. I have also created via silversmithing, beading and pottery. I must thank my mother for my creative side. Early in my high school years, my mom taught me to sew and tailor, ceramics, cooking, crocheting and photography. Even though I have a BS in Art Education, I did not get much instruction in painting or drawing. We were mostly on our own in class and your grade was dependent upon whether the teacher liked what was done. After college and in the early 80s, my mom taught me some of her painting lessons from Priscilla Hauser, and others. Bless her! I finally got some actual technical instruction.

I painted off and on, but I did not set up a studio until I retired and moved into an active adult community. I have since been painting almost daily. I joined a silversmithing club and pottery club, but it was hard to keep all of that going, so I am mostly painting now. I also continue my education by taking painting classes and tutorials, as well as going through YouTube tutorials. I suppose this sounds rather juvenile, but I’ve always had an eye for things and my painting has vastly improved by just exposing myself to these other artistic teachers, and simply painting, painting, and more painting.

I am hopeful that you will enjoy viewing my work. Feel free to respond to my blog and offer your opinions about my work. Please be constructive when offering advice.
